What The Construction Leadership Plans For Construction 2028

The Construction Leadership Council have 2028 goals, some of the goals they want to meet are an increase in workforce employment, net zero goals and an increase in the use of timber in construction.

2028, the construction council intends to have an additional 250,000 workers by 2028 to meet the demand. This is because of the increase in older workers retiring and the difficulty of finding skilled staff.

They also want to meet net zero by 2050 to do this they will need to create an extra 350,000 new roles by 2028.

In the EU new buildings owned by public bodies will be required to be zero-emission in buildings by 2028.

The construction industry is becoming more innovative in the way they use timber by increasing how efficient timber can be in construction methods as well as reusing timber products.

Construction had an increase of £243 million in imported construction products in quarter 2 compared to Quarter 1 2024. 

In the apparent attempt to increase growth within the sector, the UK construction industry has had a 45% increase in project starts in the last 3 months.
