7 ways to catch a Recruiters attention!
If you’re looking for a new job or you just want to be kept in the loop with potential opportunities you’ll need to stand out in the crowd. Here’s 7 tips and things to keep in mind to help you get to the top of the list…
1. Ensure you keep your job board CV and online profiles up to date to demonstrate you take your online presence seriously. Having an outdated page makes a Recruiter think you aren’t active or won’t be interested to talk
2. Have a summary section at the top of your CV or LinkedIn profile to showcase your achievements, experience, motivations and professional goals
3. Ensure you include your educational background
4. Specify your industry. Many Recruiters search CV databases and LinkedIn profiles specifically by industry and by listing this it will help you to come up in those recruiter searches
5. Don’t just list your responsibilities, include what you achieved and quantify it in terms of time, quality or cost. For example, rather than saying “I was responsible for client service” say “I was responsible for client service and reduced turnaround time by 20%”
6. Add a summary of your skills. These don’t just have to be a list of technical areas you excel in, include your soft skills too
7. Gaps in work experience or lots of jobs in a short space of time (if you’re not a contractor) are red flags for recruiters. Address these up front as organisations want to know you will stick around and they will get a return on their investment so explaining the circumstances can give context to a situation
